Gang,
What another great STS outing at Rohunta Lake in Orange, MA! It was a smorgasbord of bass bugs, watercraft,
fly rods, both vintage and new, making new acquaintances and meeting old friends again, sharing stories and experience good fellowship. The fishing was fair,
the fish were stubborn on topwater, only a handful of Bluegills, Pickerels and top water blowup were had, but the array of food, laughter, beauty of central
Massachusetts countryside during the fall was second to none.

At Rohunta today we observed Bald Eagles were soaring over head, flocks of Canadian Geese gently landing on
the glass like water, Wood ducks flying off/whistling for their mates, Peeper frogs, painted turtle sitting on logs sunning themselves, observing the sunrise
over Mt. Wachusetts were some of the beautiful scenes witnessed today - and for a while during our crazy, busy schedules;…. life was good.
It was great to meet all the members at our gathering today. We met at Flagg's fly/tackle shop; Mr Flagg is a Veteran Fly tying icon in the Northeast part
of the country. He gave us all fishing advice and bass strategies. It was an honor to listen to some of his stories of old time fly fishermen, fly tiers and
trophy fish caught over his 70+ years.

Cuemaker03 and Caddis4 are lining up their rods and getting ready to take to the water
Getting ready for blast off, double checking all equipment and flies are ready for action
Many member had neat rides; B52 in his stealth vessel. This is rigged with every imaginable feature. Armand
fished hard today…couldn't get him off the water. There wasn't a Lilly pad that wasn't inspected or got by him for a cast. He wore that Wonderod
out today... He had several pickerel take his secret bass bugs and numerous blow ups under his Bass bug
RG924 was riding in high style, his pontoon was perfect for the floating weed beds and pads, he work each cove over with tenacity

The Duckbucket was showing its versatility, it glided over the pads seamlessly. Goldie and Flytackle were attacking each open pocket with bass bug vengeance, several top water blowup and follows tested their skills.. Several Bluegills were taken
Spinney and John was after the legend of Rohunta...last year Spinney caught a huge 5+ LMB in the same general location
Cuemaker and Caddis were tag teaming the fishing strategies with various bass bugs aresenal, again several top water slaps from fish but no takers. Cuemaker
fish after lunch with Gillbuster and took a nice Blugill. Cuemaker can definitely cast some bugs with his Redington, making some picture perfect casts under
some trees
Wee Hooker quietly floated into action in his neat ride, 12' Ultimate Native Kayak, ...boy is this thing sweet! The fish saw this watercraft and took off
and hid deep into the weeds
B52's friend, Mike came well prepared with his Predator Kayak and attacked the fish with some subsurface fliies...He had Rohunta fish's number...
Since the fish were not cooperating, a good ole fashion shore lunch STS Style was in order: Onion rings, Clam Chowder, Brownies, 8 Tomatoe/feta salad, Cheese
Cake, Beer-batter Haddock , Chicken patties, Jumbo Shrimp & cocktail sauce, Crab Cakes, etc, etc, & of course Thank Sam Cake! This was a feast, fit for
a king or a dozen hungry fishermen... all the food was absolutely outstanding

Yes, this day, even tho the fish were less than cooperative, Life is good, .....good food, good friends, lots of laughter... Thanks Sam for another outstanding
outing...
As we paddle back to the launch and pack up after a long day adventure, we give thanks to all of Mother Nature's beauty and sererity
and remember Rohunta lake and all her wonder

If I forgot anyone or slighted anything, my apologies
Thanks guys for a great time....see you on the water real soon
Tight lines and good health
Gillbuster
