One idea that I'll throw out was to hit Lake Rohunta on the Athol/Orange line on Route 2. Easy to get to, and we'd include a stop by a legendary Mass fly fishing shop, Flagg's Fly & Tackle
Rohunta is a salad bowl and would all but require canoes -- mighty tough to fish this pond from a float tube as it's chock-a-block full of lily pads and coontail (I think that's the name for that sub-surface weed). If we want to fish Rohunta, pack heavy rods and weedless flies, but there are some real hogs in this water.
