I have an opportunity to purchase a new 8', 7 wt. Penn Gold Medal fly rod at a great price. It looks like a well made, high quality rod but I have no
experience with these rods. If any of you have fished these Penn rods, I would be grateful for your comments. Thanks.

Coach, I have no experience with them but I was talking to a guy that did a lot of billfishing on the fly and he said they were great rods and were under
rated. I do not think you could go rong if it is a great price.

Russell, Thanks for the reply. I purchased the rod last week and fished it for pickeral today for the first time. It is a very well made rod with excellent
components and it casts beautifully, much like a Fenwick HMG but a bit faster. It should be ideal for casting bassbugs under the cypress trees from my kayak
this summer. I discovered that these rods originally listed for around $200. I bought the rod brand new from a little shop that was closing for $50. Seemed
like a good deal to me. Coach
