I would be willing to join the fly swap if we still need tyers. How many do I need to tie and when do we need them in by?
thanks
Paul

Hi Paul Welcome to the annual fly swap | #22 | ||
|
Glad to see you,
Just browse back abit and you will see the deadlines. Briefly, I was about to mail some more flys but had to get another small box, so won't mail the rest till Monday. Your the 7th member, Im guessing we need just one more, that would make 8 members sending a total of 8 flys for the members and 2 for the auction. That would give us two dozen/2 sets to auction for the site. Let us know what pattern your going to send. You can read back and see the patterns already submitted. I would suggest a cardboard foldable box, just picked up another one today, $.89 at the local stationary store. I label it with a return address, made out to me, put my flys in a zip lock bag, Don't seal the box, wrap it in brown paper, address it to John, his address is back in the string. The box will cost about $1.45 now for return postage back to you. Either send stamps or cash, but don't have the post office use their printed postage labels, the post office doesn't like seeing them with a month old date stamp. Anyway take your flys, make a little tag, I cut some of the throw away foam envelope pieces that are clean, cut them into 1" X 1" squares, write the pattern and who tied it on each, place in the zip lock back, then into the box, either stamped and addressed back to you or with stamps etc. Wrap the box in brown paper, tape it shut and take it to the post office and ship First Class, again about $1.45. Sense your #7 and we need just one more to make our two dozen different patterns for the swap, I would suggest you send a total of 10 flys at this point, we only need one more to close the dozen patterns. Richard Just a quick note, I forgot the post office was closed Monday so the two additional sets went out in the mail today John, you should be receiving them around the end of the week or perhaps first of next week depending on the weather. Richard

Hi Paul, your foam frog sounds great, glad you could join us. Ok guys we need one more to reach our dozen ties plus two for the swap and auction. Right now we
have 7 tyers for 10 flys each, plus Gilbuster and I are submitting two extra patterns each to get us to a total right now of 11 patterns.

Hi Joe | #26 | ||

Great seeing you here, sounds like a winner, we were needing one more, with you we will have 8 participants producing 10 flys each, Gilbuster and I are
submitting three paterns each. Thus we will have a total of 8 sets for the participants (12 flys each) plus two sets of 12 flys to auction to support the site.
Winter is a great time for me to work on rods and flys during the bad weather, so these winter fly swaps are perfect. You can browse back in this string for the particulars, Gilbuster is having some computer problems but most likely will close the Swap with the inclusion of you. Looks like a fun bunch of flys for spring. Richard |

okay; I'm confused. we got 8 tyers, right? we make two extra for the auction, right? we do not make one for ourselves, right? so, unless I'm confused
we each send in 9 flies? I don't mind making more, just want to send in right amount-p-

How many flys | #30 | ||
|
Hi Pearow, We've got 8 tyers, so its easier for Gillbuster to put the same number of flys in each set, so send him a total of 10 and you will get one of yours back for a total of 12 in the set. At least thats the way Ive always done it on other fly swaps. Richard |
