Fishing Report:
Nothing in particular going on for the morning of the 4th of July, so I asked my dad if he wanted to go fishing for a couple hours. My brother joined in and
they wanted some bait so we waited for the bait shop to open at 6 and got on the water about 6:30. Dad caught the first LMB, around 7am a 2 pounder on a
3" craw no weight in 6' of water, as we slowly moved into the slop we wanted to fish. By 8am we each had boated a couple 1 1/2 lbs LMB my brother had
2 - 2 1/2 lbs on 6" lizzards and I got 1- 3 1/2lb on a senko, that's about the time it started. The water
came alive with bass jumping 1-2' out of the water and went on until we left around 10am. and I don't mean 1 or 2 bass I mean dozens of bass everywhere
you looked over and over and over. So I started doing more observing than fishing and what I saw was hundreds of dragon flies moving over the water and bass
slamming them. I actually watched a 2 pounder following a dragon fly several feet before jumping 2ft out of the water to catch the fly. We even saw what I
guess to be about a 6 pounder launch itself a foot or more straight up to catch a fly. WOW But once this started we only caught a couple more shorts no matter
what we threw they were much to intent on the dragon flies.
I have never witnessed this. but what sight this must have been, could you imagine if you had a Dragon fly pattern to throw?
