Stopped in and checked on you guys a few times since the site made the switch. For some reason it didn't want me to log in - and considering the fact I was ice-fishing I decided to check back later. Today, without thinking I tried logging in with HideHunter (which the old site wouldn't let me do - that's why I "became" Warmouth) - anyway, lo and behold - I'm HideHunter again.
Glad to see a lot of the old familiar faces and a few new ones.
We've had a terrible time getting to spring. - Cold and Rainy.
Finally warmed up enough here (between rains) to make you at least *think* about spring. Gathered up the fly rods and headed for one of "my" ponds. This thing has some great crappie in it though it hates to give them up. I put on a 'sinker' and cast all the way around. Had two small bass.
Just as I got up to a corner of the dam two geese came wheeling in. When they saw me they swung hard and went out the opposite corner. I saw fish spook out
right against the bank. Figured it might be bluegill and I knew there was less than a foot of water there. Switched to a 'slow sinker' and flipped a
cast up in there. First hit - nice 'gill. Ended up taking about a dozen out of there - kept 10. Backed off a bit - switched flies - let it sink
"forever" - and caught a half-dozen - more this being the biggest.
10 1/2" not a monster by any means - but it sure felt good to get the rust off.
